Each month, we bring families and individuals together through programs that build connections, provide support, and offer resources tailored to the autism and neurodiverse community. Here’s what’s happening this September at the Ackerman Center.

Craft n Chat Open Enrollment
Created for women 18+ who are living with autism or exploring a potential diagnosis. A peer-led group centered on connection, shared understanding, and creative activities.

GROOVE Open Enrollment
A therapy-based group for adults 18+ led by Ackerman Center psychologists. Focuses on building relationships, boundaries, brain-body balance, and navigating adulthood.

September 9 — FASD Awareness Month Webinar
Join us from 12:00–12:30 PM on Zoom for a 30-minute webinar introducing Thriving Together: Resilient Pathways Forward for FASD/PSE.

September 9 — Las Vegas Sign Goes Red

At 9 AM, the iconic Las Vegas Sign will turn red and remain lit throughout the day—a perfect photo opportunity for families to show support and raise awareness!

September 15 — Thriving Together Program Launch
A new 12-week program for youth with Prenatal Substance Exposure (PSE) or FASD and their families, helping build strategies for resilience, relationships, and emotional regulation.

September 23 — Partner Up: IEP Binders
12–1 PM at the Ackerman Center. Learn how to use IEP binders, why they matter, and how they can help you advocate for your child.

September 25 — Social Night Out
Ages 15–23. Join us for an out-of-this-world escape room adventure set in outer space!

Community Partner Events

Below are a few events happening in the Las Vegas area that may be relevant or helpful for neurodivergent individuals and their families. While these events are not hosted by our center, we’re sharing them in case they offer additional opportunities for connection, support, or exploration.

September 6 — FASD Family Day
 Join Nevada Families for FASD Awareness from 4–7 PM at Stephenson Memorial Park. This free community event features games, activities, live entertainment, food, and local resource providers. Bring the whole family for an evening of fun and connection.

September 6 — Mom's Resource Fair
 10 AM–2 PM at Historic Fifth Street School. Filled with family resources and services, activities, games, food trucks, and more. It’s a great opportunity for families to connect with local businesses and organizations offering resources and services tailored just for them. September 20 — Back to School Resource Fair
 6–8 PM at Sports Social. School supply and backpack giveaway, with IEP, education, family, parent, and kids resources and activities.

September 24 — Family ECHO: Autism – Bridging Family Learning and Clinician Development to Improve Access to Best Practices
 An interactive session designed specifically for families, parents, and caregivers. This session provides a unique opportunity to learn about evidence-based practices and strategies in autism care—topics that healthcare clinicians are currently learning about and integrating into their practice.
